La costituzione di varietà e la protezione delle novità vegetali: aspetti legislativi.

Recently, advanced technologies of genetic manipulation haeve been successfully integrated to classical methods of plant breeding for obtaining a qualitative evolution of crops and for increasing or introducing resistances against pathogens and abiotic stresses. In fact, biotechnological approaches currently allow the selection of plants having new characteristics and will conduct in the next future to the constitution of genetically modified verieties. The potentials of biotechnologies in plant science and crop improvement could, however, meet limitations due to the absence of an appropriate and uniform legal protection of techynological novelties and plants showing unique traits. This pubblication presents a review of the current legal and practic aspects on the protection of plant materials and biotechnological innovations.
