The availability of reliable data of thermophysical properties, to be implemented into numerical codes simulating foundry processes, is actually not satisfactory yet. Apart from pure metals and from the most commonly employed alloys, there is a significant lack of information. This paper presents a set of models of thermophysical properties, concerning Aluminium casting alloys, implemented into a simple software, named ALLOY 2000, and checked with experimental data. From the commonly available alloy characteristics (melting range and composition) the behaviour of density, specific heat and thermal conductivity with temperature can be described by ALLOY 2000, both in the liquid and in the solid state.

Abstract
The availability of reliable data of thermophysical properties, to be implemented into numerical codes simulating foundry processes, is actually not satisfactory yet. Apart from pure metals and from the most commonly employed alloys, there is a significant lack of information. This paper presents a set of models of thermophysical properties, concerning Aluminium casting alloys, implemented into a simple software, named ALLOY 2000, and checked with experimental data. From the commonly available alloy characteristics (melting range and composition) the behaviour of density, specific heat and thermal conductivity with temperature can be described by ALLOY 2000, both in the liquid and in the solid state.Pubblicazioni consigliate
