The aim of this paper is to review Rorschach contributions to the process and outcome of psychotherapy. The goal is to offer a methodological coherent viewpoint on a literature that often appears fragmented. Our attention is focused on the methodology and on the results and methodological shortcomings of different national and international studies. The studies in this review are grouped in three basic categories and analyzed according to the Rorschach scoring methods. Further distinctions concern the research methodology (single case vs. group sampling). Finally, we take into account the differentiation between studies in which the Rorschach is administered: (a) in a test-retest design; (b) for the assessment and for the choice of specific treatment and/or as predictor of the results of the psychotherapeutic process.

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to review Rorschach contributions to the process and outcome of psychotherapy. The goal is to offer a methodological coherent viewpoint on a literature that often appears fragmented. Our attention is focused on the methodology and on the results and methodological shortcomings of different national and international studies. The studies in this review are grouped in three basic categories and analyzed according to the Rorschach scoring methods. Further distinctions concern the research methodology (single case vs. group sampling). Finally, we take into account the differentiation between studies in which the Rorschach is administered: (a) in a test-retest design; (b) for the assessment and for the choice of specific treatment and/or as predictor of the results of the psychotherapeutic process.Pubblicazioni consigliate
