The paper presents an optimized technique for the evaluation in the 3D space of the Electromagnetic (EM) field associated to pulse-like signals. The technique is based on careful usage of an analog spectrum analyzer (ASA) and the power analysis method. An uncertainty analysis is provided and useful insights on how to optimize the ASA usage for obtaining maximum accuracy are reported. The proposed technique has been advantageously used for the evaluation of 3D EM field dispersed by diathermy equipment in use at some hospitals in Italy.
