A model of the supply-traction drive system related to a light rail fuel-cell based vehicle allows to investigate the influence of the components rating and of the control parameters on the supply system performances and, in particular, on some aspects involved in the durability of the lead-acid batteries and in the overall efficiency. A parametric analysis allows assessing such quantities as functions of the design parameters. Moreover, the supply system performance is optimized by a minimization algorithm applied to an objective function, depending on the values related to these performance aspects.
