Tumour involvement of axillary nodes is an indicator of poor prognosis in women with breast cancer. Preoperative identification of axillary lymph node metastases may be imprecise. Clinical examination identifies only about half of those with nodal metastasis. The aim of this study was to assess the accuracy of ultrasound scans for axillary node staging in breast cancer.
