The aim of the paper is to present the results of a new research program on SIMULATION OF A BIOMASS GASIFIER. The program refers to an atmospheric down-draft wood gasifier presenting innovative aspects, mainly the production of charcoal and the integration of the gasifier with a small power Reciprocating Steam Engine devoted to electric power production. This system is not better than an energy plant involving an Internal Combustion engine, but the related maintenance costs of the IC engine would be much higher.
