Two conceptual models to describe flooding and drying of very shallow reaches in a tidal basin are described. Attention is focused on developing a technique which likely describes the physics of the phenomena and can be applied to relatively large grid spacing. Details are given of comparison of water elevation predictions obtained for these models and the results reported by Falconer and Chen for the same tidal and geometrical situation
