A PWM rectifier, including an uncontrolled rectifier and a Cuk power converter stage driven by a sliding-mode controller, is described. Similar to other high-quality rectifiers, this solution allows low distortion and in-phase line current. Due to the sliding-mode control, a fast and stable response is achieved, in spite of the large output filter. Control complexity is the same as standard current-mode controls, Converter analysis, design criteria, and experimental results are presented.

Abstract
