Phase noise can be one of the major sources of performance degradation in low cost low bit-rate digital systems especially in the millimeter-wavelength band. A general model considers the phase noise as the sum of different components, namely a white phase noise, a white frequency noise and a flicker frequency noise. All these components are taken into account in the evaluation of error probability and their performance degradation is compared in terms of the 3-dB oscillator bandwidth. Examples of applications to the performance of LMDS systems are considered.

Abstract
Phase noise can be one of the major sources of performance degradation in low cost low bit-rate digital systems especially in the millimeter-wavelength band. A general model considers the phase noise as the sum of different components, namely a white phase noise, a white frequency noise and a flicker frequency noise. All these components are taken into account in the evaluation of error probability and their performance degradation is compared in terms of the 3-dB oscillator bandwidth. Examples of applications to the performance of LMDS systems are considered.File in questo prodotto:
