Abstract

Optic disc capillary hemangiomo Íogether with racemose aneurysm and cavernous hemangioma is q rore hamartoma of the oplic nerve head. In two 30- and 72-year-old patients fluorescein angiograms showed hishly vascularized lesions partially covering and surrounding the optic disc with early fluorescein injection and lale marked leakage. Standordized A-scan echography displayed spontoneous verticol movements of the high reflec'tive echoes from Íhe solid lesions and normal retrobulbar optic nerve widths. On the basis of echogrophic results choroidal melanoma involving the optic ner.ve wos excluded. B-scan examination and computerized tomography nicely evidenced the lesion in one case. A clinical diagnosis of unilateral disc capillary hemangioma was made in both potients. Xenon photocoagulation of the hemangiotna was performed in one eye with exudative macular detachmenf . No tumor growth was observed a.fter aboul two -,-eafro llow-up in both patienls.
