Abstract

In the second edition of his Grundsätze, which was not translated into English, Menger suggests that economic activity may be approached with a technical focus, concentrat-ing primarily on the activities of acquiring the information and of organising the means which enable economic agents to obtain the goods that satisfy human needs, or with an efficiency focus which drives agents to generate the maximum quantity of consumption goods from the scarce availability of means to satisfy needs.
