Abstract

We outline the recent developments in the applications of techniques borrowed from modern scattering theory to electron transport in quantum nanowires. In particular, we shall consider how the analytic properties of the multichannel S-matrix can be exploited, to analyze the dependence of bound states and resonances upon the geometric and dynamical parameters of the transmitting system.
