The chapter examines the contentious public spaces created through efforts to build mosques in Europe as well as the new visibility of young Muslims in the European urban space. The mosques are the expression of the demand of social recognition and youths attitudes denote a new culture of religious consumption and new modes of everyday interaction in public space. Both indicate the reterritorialisation of Muslim identities in European cities and the request of visibility.

Abstract
The chapter examines the contentious public spaces created through efforts to build mosques in Europe as well as the new visibility of young Muslims in the European urban space. The mosques are the expression of the demand of social recognition and youths attitudes denote a new culture of religious consumption and new modes of everyday interaction in public space. Both indicate the reterritorialisation of Muslim identities in European cities and the request of visibility.File in questo prodotto:
