This article briefly discusses the problem of interpretation of international treaties drawn up in two or more languages with special regard to the Alpine Convention. Having in mind the main rules of the Vienna Convention on the law of treaties and the contribution of legal scholars in this field, a particular attention is given to the effects on harmonisation of legal terminology determined by interaction between linguist and legal experts as regards the terms contained in the Alpine Convention and its protocols.
