The article describes the inter-faculty language test called TAL (Test di Abilità Linguistica), which aims to assess reading and listening comprehension skills in English at level B1 of the CEFR. Since a large number of candidates at the University of Padua need to take this test, TAL was designed to be computer based using the software QuestionMark Perception. The article begins with an outline of the test and goes through a detailed description of the events and circumstances that led to the changes made to the TAL and the creation of a revised version called TAL2. Subsequently, it discusses how the new test was piloted, presents the data analysis which was conducted and discusses and interprets the results.
