This work presents the problems addressed and the first results carried out by a project finalized to the preservation of Interactive Music Installations (IMI). Up to now, the problems arisen by the IMI are poorly considered by the archivists' community: on the contrary, the preservation of IMI is becoming important, as they are getting more and more popular in the performing arts communities. Preservation requires keeping not only all the necessary components for the (re)production of a performance, but also the knowledge about these components so that the original production process can be repeated at any given time. This work proposes a multilevel approach for the preservation of IMI. As cases study, the Pinocchio Square (installed in EXPO 2002) and the Pinball are considered.

Abstract
This work presents the problems addressed and the first results carried out by a project finalized to the preservation of Interactive Music Installations (IMI). Up to now, the problems arisen by the IMI are poorly considered by the archivists' community: on the contrary, the preservation of IMI is becoming important, as they are getting more and more popular in the performing arts communities. Preservation requires keeping not only all the necessary components for the (re)production of a performance, but also the knowledge about these components so that the original production process can be repeated at any given time. This work proposes a multilevel approach for the preservation of IMI. As cases study, the Pinocchio Square (installed in EXPO 2002) and the Pinball are considered.Pubblicazioni consigliate
