Abstract

The paper presents a test bed designed to evaluate synchronization performances for a generic network environment in a variety of different conditions. The emphasis is on the effects of cross-traffic on the one-way delay of packets containing timing information, as well as the study of timestamping inaccuracies. The work discusses and motivates the choices made in the design of the test bed and analyze a few case studies where the factors mentioned above can be quantitatively assessed.
