The use of artificial light is debated due to the contribution to energy reduction in buildings consumption, comfort and productivity. The importance of daylight in buildings is therefore nowadays of particular interest, in terms of visual comfort and well-being. People live most of their time indoor, so it is necessary to create a comfortable environment to prevent disease, lack of motivation and sometimes even sickness. Many studies have demonstrated that if daylight is the primary source of lighting, there is a great improvement in productivity, performance and well-being in general. This article would like to be a sort of review on the factors which contribute to enhance visual comfort, especially in office buildings, where vision occurs to be the most important of all the five senses.
