The N-(N-(3-diphenylphosphinopropionyl)glycil)-S-tritylcysteine methyl ester ligand demonstrated high affinity towards oxo-rhenium (V) moiety. The PN2S set coordinates the ReO3+ core acting as tetradentate and afforfing the syn and anti isomers due to the orientation of the methyl ester group in respect to M=O. Follow-up of the reaction of the detritylated ligand with Ph4P[ReOCl4] in ethanol or acetonitrile indicated that the phosphorous atom of the chelate binds first to the metal and that this bond acts as the driving force of coordination.

Abstract
