The current stage of the project of conservation of the “Arsenale” (the Venetian republic’s ship yard) of Venice is here presented. Systematic investigations are being planned on some buildings and sheds to the diagnosis of the deterioration phenomena and to design possible proper interventions. Some preliminary results, given by experimental tests performed both in situ and in laboratory on materials and structural elements, and by FE simulations, are discussed.
