Abstract

The first stage of a Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) analysis is aimed at product structure simplification by reducing the number of separate components. In order to tackle the part count reduction problem more effectively, in this paper it is proposed to apply DFMA minimum part criteria in combination with the Separation Principles of the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ).
