A study concerning the application of different repair techniques on damaged historic masonry buildings is presented. Three techniques are considered: grouting by injection, jacketing, and the repointing of bed joints reinforced by the insertion of stainless steel wires. The results of an experimental research carried out in the last years on some study cases are shown: both laboratory and in situ tests are included and the interpretation of the mechanisms of failure by mechanical and numerical models is also given.

Abstract

A study concerning the application of different repair techniques on damaged historic masonry buildings is presented. Three techniques are considered: grouting by injection, jacketing, and the repointing of bed joints reinforced by the insertion of stainless steel wires. The results of an experimental research carried out in the last years on some study cases are shown: both laboratory and in situ tests are included and the interpretation of the mechanisms of failure by mechanical and numerical models is also given.
