Presented here are the results of a preliminary study on twenty samples of olla-shaped vessels of Roman Time from the excavation area of the Via Neroniana (Montegrotto Terme, Padova, north-eastern Italy). The close morphological affinity between this pottery and coeval samples found in near Modena is at the base of this archaeometrical research. The study focuses on the distinction between locally produced versus imported objects, definition of the paste preparation technique, and the relationship between morphological and technological-productive features. This archaeometric study identified two groups of local origin and one of imported pottery, indicating that extensive trade between various geographic areas also existed for pottery for everyday use.
