A quick procedure for the characterisation of shock absorbers is presented in this work. It is based on few experimental tests, each of which are performed on a testing bench specially designed and constructed that works at constant velocity excitations. The acquired force and displacement data are at once processed with suitable software, in order to obtain the damping force in the displacement-velocity domain. As an application of the characterisation procedure, one example of characterisation of a shock absorber for rear suspension of a motorcycle is presented.
