Results of the studies on forest types in Trentino are now available. In particular, the application here presented deals with two forest management plans of Val di Pejo (Val di Sole) and with the drawing of a new division of the forest, according to the present link between conservation of biodiversity and multi-function approach in forest planning. The areas of each breeding unit of the new division and botanical indicators were computed. Moreover, several interesting parcels of the management plans were extracted in order to better characterize, in the future, the forest types from a biometric point of view. Criteria for further investigations are also discussed.

Abstract

Results of the studies on forest types in Trentino are now available. In particular, the application here presented deals with two forest management plans of Val di Pejo (Val di Sole) and with the drawing of a new division of the forest, according to the present link between conservation of biodiversity and multi-function approach in forest planning. The areas of each breeding unit of the new division and botanical indicators were computed. Moreover, several interesting parcels of the management plans were extracted in order to better characterize, in the future, the forest types from a biometric point of view. Criteria for further investigations are also discussed.
