Abstract

A particular building typology of reinforced concrete prefabricated bearing panels is the subject of the present paper. It has been developed for a convenient employment in low and medium rise residential buildings in seismic regions. The prefabricated panels bear the vertical loads and they act as shear walls for the horizontal ones other than the usual task of architectural cladding. More in general they have to assure a proper thermal and acoustic insulation as well as an adequate fire resistance. The present study aims at the theoretical and experimental analysis of the above mentioned panels for the verification of their strength and ductility. The results of experimental tests, carried out at the Material testing Lab of the Structural and Transportation Engineering Department of the University of Padua, are herein presented. The resistance mechanisms of the connections and of the whole structures have been examined. A simplified nonlinear static analysis have been developed to assess the behaviour of these structures.
