Abstract

Events such as festivals offer, particularly for medium or small cities, considerable opportunities for regeneration. However, cities considerably vary in take advantage of these opportunities. This paper analyzes this relevant question through a network perspective. We consider that the network of people and organizations involved in the event (creation, relational features etc.) to the some extent determine potential benefits. We have illustrated our argumentation drawn on three festivals held in minor urban touristic destinations in Spain. Findings confirm the existence of diverse typology of networks managing festivals. Implications may be useful for both policy makers and for individual organizations.
