Having noted the shortage of specialized reference material concerning the effect of vibration of the support on the quality of photographic images, and having found that the photographic tripods are usually studied only in static terms, methods for measuring vibration of the support have been developed and these have been related to the quality of the photographic image acquired by a digital camera. Since it is not easy to directly measure the vibration of the pixels array during shooting, that is inside the camera, the vertical vibrations of the camera with both piezoelectric accelerometer and with laser vibrometer were measured and the results were compared with images of optical targets acquired during these vibrations and processed in terms of MTF curves through Imatest software®. An innovative method of vibration analysis sensor camera through the acquisition of a horizontal light motion during the vibration of the photographic system is also offered to be able to directly determine the vibrational characteristics of the system under consideration, directly seen by the sensor camera. Comparative analysis of results showed that the quality of the photographic image is related to both the measured vibration and dynamic characteristics of the support, and that the new proposed method is promising to qualify directly to the camera support system.
