It is unclear whether the stimulus of new technologies can create enough new markets to restore vigorous growth in advanced industrial economies. That put in an entire new light the debate on deficits and the stimulus to overcome the crisis. The article examines whether a long term solution can arise from new industries, i.e. the developments in ICTs, the Green Economy, bio-tech and healthcare. It also highlights some major differences with the issue in developing economies such as that of China.
