The effect of elastic transfer on the fusion of almost identical nuclei is investigated. It is shown that even in cases where no oscillatory structure is visible in the fusion excitation function, the signature of the elastic transfer process is clear in the partial fusion cross sections and in the barrier distributions. These features are illustrated with calculations for O-16+O-18 and Si-28+Si-30 systems.

Abstract
