Data-base of experimental results on reinforced masonry walls

In the present contribution, the creation of a data-base of experimental results on reinforced and confined masonry systems is described. First, a short overview of the literary survey carried out is presented. Then the data base structure, i.e. the criteria followed to organize it into subsections, the choice of the basic material properties necessary for the technological and mechanical description of the different masonry systems, the definition of the main parameters to describe the in-plane cyclic behavior of the tested masonry walls are described. Furthermore, the two types of search that can be carried out are introduced. The basic search allows differentiating the data collected into the data base on the basis of the reinforced masonry typology, whereas the advanced search allows differentiating the collected data also on the basis of more detailed parameters. The use of this type of search allows selecting different catalogued researches that meet the same criteria. It is thus possible to process homogeneous data and to obtain statistical information, elaborate analytical models, assess the validity of different design formulations. The first results obtained by means of these analyses are also presented in this contribution.
