The role of density perturbations in producing elliptical and spiral galaxies is investigated. The angular momentum-mass (J-M) relation in the cold dark matter scenario is discussed, and the extension of the use of this J-M method to polytropic spheres of any index n(p) in the range n(p) from zero to five is considered. The evolution of expanding, spherical-symmetric density perturbations taking the effects of rotation into consideration is addressed. Values of the radii at maximum expansion are calculated along with the related angular momenta for peaks with different heights.

Abstract

The role of density perturbations in producing elliptical and spiral galaxies is investigated. The angular momentum-mass (J-M) relation in the cold dark matter scenario is discussed, and the extension of the use of this J-M method to polytropic spheres of any index n(p) in the range n(p) from zero to five is considered. The evolution of expanding, spherical-symmetric density perturbations taking the effects of rotation into consideration is addressed. Values of the radii at maximum expansion are calculated along with the related angular momenta for peaks with different heights.
