Since 1988 endometrial cancer is considered to be a surgically staged disease by FIGO and therefore in the treatment of endometrial carcinoma surgery is the "back-bone" (Creasman, Onnis). Study design - prospective; study period - -from Janauary 1996 to jULY 1998 inclusion - 16 endometrial carcinoma, stage I patients (mean age 52,3 yrs, -range 30-66) undergoing laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy with bilateral adnexectomy and laparoscopic system pelvic lymphadenectomy. The mean operating time was 165 minutes (range 105 - 210 minutes); the mean blood loss was 173 ml and the extracted lymphnodes resulted negative for malignancy. The laparoscopic approach in the management of endometrial carcinoma permitted the radical resection of the neoplasia and the asportation of a proper number of lymphnodes for an adequate pathological staging.
