Abstract

The effect of relative density and effective stress level on the behaviour of large diameter bored piles is investigated by a finite element analysis. The elasto-plastic constitutive model adopted in this study is based on a non linear Mohr-Coulomb criterion in which the two main components of shear resistance are considered, namely the ones related to shearing at constant volume and to dilatancy.
