A large part of North-East Italy is characterized by urban sprawl: in this hybrid context, children have few opportunities to live a free contact with nature and take care of it. In the outlook of urban densification and increase of rural spaces in order to reduce ecological footprint, civil society and educational networks should cooperate in improving urban green spaces; creating occasions of exploration of nature; fostering the participation, the capability to act and the assumption of responsibility by young citizens.
