ICT in music education in Italy: Contexts, potentialities and perspectives.

The aim of this chapter is to outline the overall Italian situation with regard to the employment of ICT in music education, whilst being aware that such a complex task involves various issues and it is not possible to give a complete and exhaustive account of all aspects. First the approaches to the use of ICT in music education will be discussed. Then the various projects and their effects on primary, middle and secondary schools in Italy will be considered. These projects are only reported on in Italian and only a few resources and websites are also available in English. This is a potential problem for developing international contacts and sharing experiences between Italian schools and schools from other countries.
