The article deals with the Classical historiographical tradition about the Babylonian, Greek-speaking scholar Berossos as regards his treatment of the history of the Neo-Assyrian empire and of its frequente and difficult relations with Babylonia, especially considering the ideological and historical approach to the model of the supranational empire developed by the Assyrian kings as related to the successive Babylonian Persian and Seleucidic empires.
