In the study helicopter logging under two different conditions was examined: the transportation of valuable timber from stands with inadequate road networks and the transportation of wood damaged by fire and with a later stage attack by bark beetle. The study has been carried out through working time analysis based on on-board GPS and handheld collection data and was supported by GIS analysis. Productivity models were designed in order to consider the influence of the different variables. The results allow the evaluation of the productivity and the cost of helicopter logging for both the analyzed conditions. The models show the productivity sensitivity is sensitive to the average stem piece volume and mass, the horizontal distance and the vertical distance between the harvesting site and landing.

Abstract
In the study helicopter logging under two different conditions was examined: the transportation of valuable timber from stands with inadequate road networks and the transportation of wood damaged by fire and with a later stage attack by bark beetle. The study has been carried out through working time analysis based on on-board GPS and handheld collection data and was supported by GIS analysis. Productivity models were designed in order to consider the influence of the different variables. The results allow the evaluation of the productivity and the cost of helicopter logging for both the analyzed conditions. The models show the productivity sensitivity is sensitive to the average stem piece volume and mass, the horizontal distance and the vertical distance between the harvesting site and landing.Pubblicazioni consigliate
