In this work the impact behavior of a self-healing ionomeric polymer is investigated, both when used alone and as a part of a multilayer plate assembly. The self-healing ability of the ionomerwas tested following impacts of aluminium spheres at velocities between 1 and 4 km/s, andthe protection capability of the ionomer bumper was evaluated and compared to Al-7275-T6 bumpers with similar areal density. Furthermore, the impact behavior of a multifunctional plate structure, consisting of a carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) laminate and ionomer plate joined together, is investigated experimentally and numerically.

Abstract
In this work the impact behavior of a self-healing ionomeric polymer is investigated, both when used alone and as a part of a multilayer plate assembly. The self-healing ability of the ionomerwas tested following impacts of aluminium spheres at velocities between 1 and 4 km/s, andthe protection capability of the ionomer bumper was evaluated and compared to Al-7275-T6 bumpers with similar areal density. Furthermore, the impact behavior of a multifunctional plate structure, consisting of a carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) laminate and ionomer plate joined together, is investigated experimentally and numerically.File in questo prodotto:
