Setting up scientific programmes of pottery analysis requires the adoption of specific strategies depending on the archaeological questions, type and number of materials being studied, analytical techniques, awareness of the meaning of the data produced, and financial costs of the analyses. This paper discusses the importance of these issues in targeting methodological approaches on the basis of our own experience collaborating on different research projects in the Near East, and presents examples of integrated use of archaeometric analyses in the study of ceramic assemblages in Syria and Saudi Arabia.

Abstract
Setting up scientific programmes of pottery analysis requires the adoption of specific strategies depending on the archaeological questions, type and number of materials being studied, analytical techniques, awareness of the meaning of the data produced, and financial costs of the analyses. This paper discusses the importance of these issues in targeting methodological approaches on the basis of our own experience collaborating on different research projects in the Near East, and presents examples of integrated use of archaeometric analyses in the study of ceramic assemblages in Syria and Saudi Arabia.File in questo prodotto:
