The relevance of wide band connectivity for the schools has been recently recognised by the Italian Government. However, the actual coverage of broad band is not sufficient to make use at school of emerging technologies, like cloud computing, that could be the base for a new model of education. In this context the web 2.0 projects sponsored by the Government are reported as tools to favour a new digital literacy/citizenship. This experiences can also be used as indicators of social development.
