During the field research in the embanked site of Fondo Paviani, carried out by Padova University since 2007, 24 new artefacts in vitreous material were found. The majority of them are ring-beads with colours ranging from light blue to dark blue, or to red, that find comparisons in the typical Frattesina productions, and other kinds of beads with spiry decoration, one of which is light blue, that can be dated both to the RBA and to the FBA. Moreover, two indicators of the processing of vitreous materials, were found: a piece of waste made of a series of light blue and red ringbeads and a small block probably belonging to an ingot. The majority of the materials was found during the survey, therefore it can be generically dated from MBA3/RBA1 to the FBA1-2; some fragments, however, came from the excavated settlement levels dated to the RBA2, and some others from the levels of the last phase of the settlement, dated between RBA2 and FBA1-2. Archaeometric analyses were carried out on nine specimens, in order to identify the chemical (EDS and EMPA analysis), textural (SEM-EDS analysis) and mineralogical (XRD analysis) composition of the vitreous materials. The light blue fragments coming from the RBA2 levels have a HMG composition, even though with low amounts of Ca and Mg; they are therefore similar to the typical MBA3/RBA blue HMG vitreous materials of northern Italy. The ring-beads and the light blue bead with spiry decoration, as well as the light blue body of the red vitreous materials, have a LMHK composition and their colour is due to high amounts of Cu. The dark blue beads, with LMHK composition too, have lower Cu amounts and have traces of Co associated with Ni and As as well. In the red vitreous materials, again with LMHK composition, the surface colour is obtained through the reduction of the Cu present in the glass phase to metallic Cu. Both the LMHK composition and the colouring techniques are compatible with the typical FBA productions, in primis those of Frattesina. Finally, the small block is slightly different from the normal LMHK vitreous materials because it is enriched in K; it is however still comparable with a subset of vitreous materials from Frattesina. In summary, the RBA vitreous materials from Fondo Paviani are probably imported from the Aegean or eastern Mediterranean areas; on the other hand, the FBA production seems to be local.
