The Natura 2000 Network of Veneto (Northern Italy) holds a wealth of biodiversity: within the regional sites 67 species were recorded that are listed in Annex II of the Habitats Directive, including 12 priority species, and 103 species listed in Annex I of the Birds Directive. Furthermore, there are 76 Annex I habitats, of which 19 are priority habitats. The Member States, under article 8 of the Habitats Directive, identify a Prioritised Action Framework (PAF) on Natura 2000 areas for the period 2014-2020, which should become the cornerstone of the Natura 2000 environmental planning. Among the chapters forming the PAF, some evaluate the conservation status of habitats and species at regional level and, based on the available information, define strategic priorities, i.e. habitats and species on which to focus the efforts of preservation and management. Furthermore, actions to be taken based on these priorities are presented. Finally, the PAF document points out the financial resources potentially suitable to support these actions, assessed through an analysis of the past use of EU financial instruments projected into the 2014-2020 planning period. The paper offers a synthesis of the case study of the Veneto PAF.

Abstract
The paper offers a synthesis of the case study of the Veneto PAF.Pubblicazioni consigliate
