Beginning with few anecdotes around a Humus group born in Trento (Italy) in 2003, the presentation will illustrate the published results of the group. Current works and perspectives will also be detailed. Among the firsts figures the necessary revision of the key of classification published in 2011, with the aim to get a more « morpho-functional » content to the tool. Focusing on the classification of units corresponding to specific types of functioning, the humus group identified the characters allowing an easy recognition of these humus systems in the field.
