Porous anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) is an ideal playground for fundamental studies on adsorption. Straight, not-interconnected pores having diameter of a few tens of nanometers with a relative dispersion below 1% and lengths up to hundreds of microns can be easily produced on large surface areas. Apart from standard uniform pores, more complex geometries can be accurately tailored including modulated pores, duplex layers and conical pores. Here we summarize the adsorption isotherms taken on these different AAO pores with a torsional microbalance.

Abstract
Porous anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) is an ideal playground for fundamental studies on adsorption. Straight, not-interconnected pores having diameter of a few tens of nanometers with a relative dispersion below 1% and lengths up to hundreds of microns can be easily produced on large surface areas. Apart from standard uniform pores, more complex geometries can be accurately tailored including modulated pores, duplex layers and conical pores. Here we summarize the adsorption isotherms taken on these different AAO pores with a torsional microbalance.File in questo prodotto:
