Abstract
The material culture of the Harappan or Indus Civilization (III millennium BC) is inspired by a great love for artificial creations, disclosing a cognitive template deeply rooted in the later Indian world. The faience ornaments of sites such as Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa, Chanhu-Daro and others range among the most aesthetically curated and technically advanced pyrotechnological products of the early Bronze age. This paper summarizes the state-of-the-art, and presents new observations from recent archaeometric analysis of faience bangles from Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro.File in questo prodotto:
