A new composite of MgH2 powder with Cr2O3 deposited by means of the physical vapour deposition (PVD) technology was synthesised and then ball milled for few time. It was tested the effectiveness of the new material. Ball milled samples, despite the very limited amount of catalyst used, have showed excellent kinetics performances and cycling ability probably due to the strong adherence between MgH2 and metal oxide catalysts coming from PVD.

Abstract

A new composite of MgH2 powder with Cr2O3 deposited by means of the physical vapour deposition (PVD) technology was synthesised and then ball milled for few time. It was tested the effectiveness of the new material. Ball milled samples, despite the very limited amount of catalyst used, have showed excellent kinetics performances and cycling ability probably due to the strong adherence between MgH2 and metal oxide catalysts coming from PVD.
