Il paesaggio in periferia: opportunità per costruire cittadinanza

The concept of landscape and that of periphery can be associated each other because of some common characteristics: both refer to a “border” zone between different worlds and interpretable as a point of relationship and connection between these same worlds; both are also continually exposed to processes of change. The suburban landscapes – with their problems and conflicts, but also for the liveliness of the citizens’ involvement that can manifest – are also an interesting opportunity to reflect on the mutual relations amongst material elements of the landscape, values, actors, rules, practices, representations. Through the analysis of a conflict occurring in the suburbs of the city of Padua, the paper intends to highlight how the involvement of the population for and in the landscape becomes a tool for the construction of new citizenship.
