A seismic experiment was performed during spring 2014, in the Svalbard archipelago, within the Italy-Norway project IMPERVIA. The aim is to try to characterize the permafrost full thickness and determining its relationship with the regional hydrology, at the Innerhytta Pingo, in the Adventdalen valley, near Longyearbyen. The experiment was designed for P-wave acquisition in a tomographic perspective, complemented by surface waves analysis. We tested three sources, in order to have high penetration without loosing resolution (sledge-hammer, seisgun and firecrackers), and low-frequency geophones (4.5 Hz) for surface-wave analyis, while 14 Hz conventional planted geophones as well as a snowstreamer allowed the recording the P-wave tomographic lines. The data quality is generally good, enabling the recognition of several refracted and reflected events. The results can, hence, help to draw guidelines for future acquisitions in similar conditions.
